Earth Day’s 40th Anniversary is April 22, 2010
On April 22, 2010 Earth Day Network will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Earth Day, a world-wide nonpartisan day of activism on behalf of our planet. To honor this important anniversary, we will bring together mayors and locally-elected officials from cities and towns around the world to take part in an exchange of concepts and ideas called the Global Day of Conversation. While great strides have been made in the pursuit of conservation and sustainability, locally elected officials are the most frequent catalysts of change. Earth Day 2010 and this event aims to be the launch pad for course-changing, positive environmental action on a global level, bridging borders, politics, policies, and ideologies.
In 2010 we are eager to work with cities and local governments around the world to advance engagement by citizens and communities to implement positive actions to mitigate environmental impacts and advance the green economy in the 21st century.
Show your love of the Earth by participating in some of the events and initiatives that will take place on that day. Visit www.earthday.org for information on events.
